Where Real Meets the Imagined: An Explosion of Color by Neena Buxani

Beginning March 21, the Georgetown Art Center is proud to present the opening of our newest exhibit Where Real Meets the Imagined: An Explosion of Color by Neena Buxani. “I paint imaginary worlds where the boundary between reality and imagination fades, giving rise to new, vibrant dimensions. My process involves experimenting with unconventional techniques and materials such as pouring medium combined with acrylic paints, which I manipulate using spoons to guide their flow. Gold leaf, gouache, collage papers, and loose canvas are some of the other materials I use to craft intriguing and imaginative places that invite exploration and curiosity. Nature serves as a recurring theme in my work, offering endless inspiration and creative possibilities. Above all, I strive to infuse my work with play and experimentation, as this approach fuels my passion to return to the easel, push my boundaries, and grow as an artist.” Neena Buxani is an Indian-American artist who was raised on the border of Mexico in Brownsville, Texas. She currently resides in Austin, Texas with her husband and two boys. Neena has a B.S. in Advertising and Speech Communications and an M.S. in Social Work from the University of Texas at Austin, as well as a Gemological Certification from GIA. She has worked as a substance abuse counselor, jewelry buyer, loan officer, jewelry store owner and general manager for a hotel. Her multifaceted background and multicultural upbringing have helped to shape her vision as a self- taught artist. Neena’s work has been featured in various publications such as Create! Magazine, All SHE makes Magazine, the Friend of the Artist Book, EASTside Magazine, the Bluehost Artist Spotlight, and the KXAN Artist Spotlight. She has also served as a curator for the Round Rock Arts Council and her work is displayed on the City Hall building in Round Rock, Texas. The exhibit will run from March 21 – April 19 and is free to attend. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, March 22nd from 4-6pm, and an artist talk on Sunday, March 23rd at 2pm. We would love to have you come and experience this newest exhibit with us. Georgetown Art Center, 816 S. Main St., Georgetown, TX 78626 artcenter.georgetown.org
