Ceremony Social Spa Bathhouse Expansion Grand Opening + Party
Ceremony Social Spa will host an all-star, all-day Grand Opening Party on Wednesday, December 11th to celebrate their bathhouse expansion, featuring legendary Austin musicians Jon Dee Graham, Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Colin and Tammy Gilmore, Mike Nicolai, Cobra Cats and the upcoming DJ Megatron. Guests can enjoy free use of the sauna and cold plunge throughout the day, free yoga and soundbath classes, and a non-alcoholic elixir bar by Altar Native Bar, tacos by Flavia’s kitchen, cacao from Third Eye Cacao, beer, wine and shopping with a curated array of creative local vendors just in time for the holidays.
In the evening, artist Laura Maltz Gossen will host an Artist Talk about her work currently on display at Ceremony with 50% of proceeds from art sales benefitting The Safe Alliance. All donations for beer, wine and cacao will benefit HAAM, Health Alliance for Austin Musicians.
With this expansion, the Ceremony bathhouse will include a total of two traditional heat saunas with capacities of 8 and 16 people each, two cold plunges, a 6-person hot tub and a new shower and scrub room, lined floor-to-ceiling with gorgeous terracotta and blue tile from local sustainable tile company Clay Imports.
The current outdoor sauna/cold plunge space is already considered a community oasis in the heart of the city; this expansion will secure Ceremony’s spot as the most welcoming and creative bathhouse experience in Austin.
Demand for sauna and cold plunge has risen sharply in recent years due to cultural awareness of their health benefits: increased energy level, circulation, immune function and skin health, and a reduction in stress, inflammation, and soreness. The creative, welcoming, nature-inspired, “old Austin meets new Austin” environment at Ceremony adds the benefit of connection to nature and community.
Ceremony Social Spa has operated at 1706 S. Lamar since 2013, and 14 years total in other locations across South Austin. Ceremony provides massage, acupuncture and cranio-sacral therapy, along with sauna and cold plunge in the bathhouse. Sauna/cold plunge sessions last two hours and can be purchased at a drop-in rate, 10-pack discount, or unlimited monthly membership.
