This workshop focuses on intentional movement at the barre designed to strengthen the ankles and inner thighs, improve stability of the supporting leg, and to enhance petit allegro and overall jump quality. It’s also an excellent way to prepare dancers for pointe work. If you’ve always wanted to try pointe but felt hesitant to dive right in, this workshop is the perfect place to start. For dancers already en pointe, it’s a valuable opportunity to condition and build strength to support and improve your pointe work. Pointe shoes will be discussed in the class but NOT worn. Each class begins with focused work at the barre before moving to the center for petit allegro, all with the goal of strengthening legs, feet, and ankles. This workshop is recommended for dancers at the Beginning 1 level or higher. You’re welcome to pair it with the Beginning 1 or Intermediate 1 Ballet class beforehand or come just for the workshop.
