What are Community Classes?
Community Classes are focused on growing the woodworking community, teaching basic woodworking skills and increasing access to tools and wood. These classes are run by skilled volunteers and build one small project completed in only a few hours. The class sizes are kept small and the number of tools used is limited. Each person attending the class must sign up individually regardless of payment amount.
Class Description:
A fun short class with other enthusiasts to construct your own owl box. These boxes are great for attracting owls to nest in your yard and for providing them a safe haven. In this beginner class, you will learn to measure, mark, cut (miter saw) and assemble (drill, countersink, and screw) a beautiful owl box (commercial value $75-$100) while listening to tunes and smelling the cedar aroma. Each student will walk away with their very own owl box and instructions on how to hang it and where. All material is included with this course. Already have an owl box....these make excellent gifts and you will be lending a helping hand to our local habitat.
A member of Travis Audubon will be at this class to provide information on how to install your screech owl box, including the optimal timing and placement for best results.
