What are Community Classes?
Community Classes are focused on growing the woodworking community, teaching basic woodworking skills and increasing access to tools and wood. These classes are run by skilled volunteers and build 1 small project completed in only a few hours. The class sizes are kept small and the number of tools used is limited. Each person attending the class must sign up individually regardless of payment amount.
Class Description:
Join us for a fun woodworking class with other enthusiasts to build a Bluebird Nest Box. These boxes are great for attracting bluebirds to nest in your yard and for providing a safe haven. In this beginner class, you will learn to measure, mark, and cut (miter saw) the main parts, create relief cuts for drip edges and cupping relief (tablesaw), as well as assemble (drill, countersink, and screw) a beautiful bluebird box. We will also provide a proven mounting solution that maximizes location options and optimizes your ability to attract the birds
A member of Travis Audubon will be at this class to provide information on bluebirds, their habitat, how to optimally locate and install the nest box for best results.
