Name: Carving – Exploring Colors and Textures Instructor: Elizabeth Weber Skill Level: All Levels Format: 4 Day in-person course Date: December 3rd to 6th, 2024 Class Description: Learn how you can use carving and texturing on wood to create a stunning piece of wall art. This class will discuss how to find inspiration for your work and how to use a combination of hand and power tools for a carved and textured surface. We will also touch on different methods of adding color, such as milk paint and acrylics. The class will also build a frame around the finished piece so that it is ready to hang on any wall. This would make a perfect holiday gift. What you’ll need: Required Carving Gouges #3, #5, #8, #11 (See recommended sources below) - Flexcut Set - Beavercraft Tools - Lee Valley Optional (If you don’t bring your own you will have to share the school’s limited quantity) Power carver (Dremel, Mastercarver, Marathon, Foredom) If you have done some woodworking, and have some tools you think would be useful, feel free to bring them. It does not hurt to bring more than you need. Austin School of Furniture has the right to cancel this class at anytime if the minimum amount of students is not reached.
