"The Schuyler Sisters & The 'Hamilton' Musical, OCL Long Beach Island Branch
SURF CITY – Alexander Hamilton’s powerful personality placed him in a new light in the smash Broadway play about him. Experience it through his own words during “The Schuyler Sisters and the 'Hamilton' Musical” at the Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch, 2 PM Thursday, March 13.
Historian Rick Feingold’s program will give you a glimpse of this magnetic individual – ardent in his pursuit of Elizabeth Schuyler and dynamic in forging a nation.
Four daughters of wealthy General Philip Schuyler ran off to marry well-to-do husbands. But Elizabeth gave her heart to the penniless orphan immigrant Alexander Hamilton. Rick will read the love letters that Hamilton wrote to his beloved during their courtship and he’ll introduce you to Angelica Schuyler Church and Maria Reynolds – who also pursued Alexander.
The program features songs from the musical including "The Schuyler Sisters," "Helpless," "Satisfied" and "It’s Quiet Uptown."
Rick Feingold teaches American Business History at Bergen Community College and is an adjunct instructor at Mount Saint Mary College. He holds an MBA degree from Penn State and a bachelor’s degree in history from Rutgers University. He connects with followers on Facebook.
