SURF CITY – The Ocean County Library Long Beach Island Branch is pleased to feature lovingly painted images of locales throughout the U.S. by local artists Jill DeFelice and Nancy Edwards. “America the Beautiful: From Sea to Shining Sea” will be on display in the Meeting Room throughout the month of May. You have an invitation to meet Jill and Nancy and hear about their travels and their talents during their Artists’ Reception, 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM Tuesday, May 13. The paintings evocatively interpret the natural beauty of sites they visited in the continental United States, Alaska and Hawaii. The exhibit took shape during a conversation about their travels. Nancy’s fortes are florals and pet portraits, and Jill’s are marine mammals and shore birds. “Each painting captures a moment when a vision of the land called us to compose an instant painting in our minds,” they said in a joint statement. ”Artists know that such scenes nag at you until you finally commit them to canvas.” “America the Beautiful: From Sea to Shining Sea” can be seen during normal Branch operating hours. The exhibit and the Reception are free and open to the public. For more information, visit the OCL Long Beach Island Branch, 217 South Central Avenue, Surf City, or call (609) 494-2480.
