A Wicked Dylan Purim Service
The service will feature a fun retelling of the Purim story with Rabbi Michael L. Feshbach, Cantor Marshall Portnoy, and the Beth Israel choir. There will be parodies of songs based on the hit musical, Wicked, and the recent Bob Dylan movie, A Complete Unknown, followed by a triangle dinner (for Haman’s hat) and trivia. Purim is the spring Jewish holiday based on the Biblical book of Esther, with its story of escape from planned persecution and slaughter. Despite the serious subject, the holiday is celebrated in joy and comedy, often retelling the story in farcical ways or with creative parody.
