The Jersey Cape Writers meet on the 1st Wednesday (6:30pm-8:30pm) and 3rd Tuesday (10am-12pm) of each month, to share their writing and ideas in a friendly and supportive environment.
Meetings are structured as follows:
-Writers come prepared with roughly ten copies of a piece of writing they would like to share. (Pieces should not be longer than a page or two, i.e., one poem or an excerpt from a piece of fiction.)
-Pieces are then distributed around a table, where writers take turns presenting their work.
-For each writer's turn, the writer reads his or her piece aloud for the group. The group then takes a few minutes to consider the piece quietly, and to provide written comments, and then each member of the group takes a minute or two to provide his or her feedback aloud for the writer.
-At the conclusion of each writer's turn, the copies of his or her piece-now with written comments-are returned to the writer. (Time allotted to each writer is dependent upon the number of attendees at the meeting).
-All comments provided are meant constructively, with genuine intent to encourage each writer in his or her craft.
