Summary: This globally-recognized qualification provides a beginner level introduction to sake for people working in a career in the beverage industry or anyone who has an interest to learn about sake. This qualification offers an exploration around the main styles and types of sake through sight, smell and taste to understand the key factors affecting flavors and aromas. Upon successful completion of a short exam you will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin. This is a one-day course culminating in a multiple choice examination consisting of 30 questions. The course aims to provides you with product and service information relevant to your place of employment or study. The qualification aims to provide the basic product knowledge and skills in the service of sake required to prepare you with the knowledge to underpin the job skills and competences, for example, in positions in the sale and service of wine in restaurants and bars, and for staff in wine retail or wholesale. No prior knowledge is required to take this course. Learning Objectives: What You’ll Learn: The basic principles of sake production The main types and styles of sake How to serve sake Factors affecting the flavor of sake How to taste describe sake using WSET’s Level 1 Systematic Approach to Tasting Sake® The Exam: Assessment is by a closed-book exam of 30 multiple-choice questions to be completed within 45 minutes. The assessment will take place on the same date as the class, at the end of the day. A total mark of 70% is required to achieve a pass. All students who pass will be issued with a digital certificate and lapel pin.
