Wildlands Conservancy – Get Out! For Wellness: Woodland Hills & Apple Fest

Hike AND eat! Even if you don’t want to hike, join us at the Apple Fest at noon. Bring family and friends. Be transported to earlier days of simple games and slate “tablets” at the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse. Highlights of this year’s festival, which is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., include a live band, an old-fashioned cakewalk, and tours of the restored one-room school. Plus, hot dogs, cider and yummy apple baked goods are for sale. At Woodland Hills we’ll explore the gently rolling grounds of a former golf course. This is a terrific place to see signs of wildlife and, in winter, to cross-country ski. Start with our easy walk on the 148-acre preserve, meandering on grassy paths through small groves of trees. And drive just down the road to the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse that is maintained by the Lower Saucon Township Historical Society. For the hike, wear sturdy footwear and a sun hat. Both events are for all ages. Dogs on leash are welcome. Bring your walking stick or hiking poles. Bring your camera to capture delightful details of life at a one-room schoolhouse. There is a portable toilet at Woodland Hills and nice bathrooms at the Lutz-Franklin Schoolhouse This walk is free and is part of the Get Out For Wellness series, in partnership with Lehigh Valley Health Network..
