About the Presenter/Author
Barbara Malt recently retired from a faculty position at Lehigh University, where she studied and taught about human cognition. Barbara started watching birds as a child in Massachusetts at her mother’s backyard feeders. She got her first field guide when she moved to California for graduate school and noticed that the birds looked different. When work brought her to Pennsylvania, she discovered the Lehigh Valley Audubon Society and became hooked on birding. She has been a member of the Executive Board of LVAS for over 20 years, and she is co-author of Birds of the Lehigh Valley and Vicinity. She currently serves as President and head of the Education Committee. In her work on the Education Committee, she gives talks to community groups such as libraries, garden, and outdoor clubs on birds, birding, and creating backyard habitat with native plants.
