
A leading historian on the Declaration of Independence will discuss how the document shaped the future of the United States during a guest lecture at Montgomery County Community College.
Dr. Emily Sneff, an early American historian and leading expert on the Declaration of Independence will lead the lecture, “The Declaration of Independence 250 Years Later,” Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 1 p.m. in the Advanced Technology Center of the Blue Bell Campus, 340 DeKalb Pike, Blue Bell, PA 19422. The lecture is free and open to all but registration is required.
Sponsored by the Division of Liberal Arts, the lecture will explore how this landmark document shaped the nation and still influences American life today.
Dr. Emily Sneff will take you back in time to 1776 to explore the who, what, where, when, how and why behind the decision to declare independence from Great Britain and then move through time to understand what the past anniversaries have looked like and how the Declaration continues to impact people today.
Sneff received a Ph.D. in History from The College of William & Mary. She is a consulting curator and advisor for museum exhibitions and public programs marking the 250th anniversary of the Declaration in 2026.
