Award-Winning Poet and Translator Sarah Arvio (“Cry Back My Sea”)


the Frenchtown Bookshop welcomes celebrated poet poet and translator Sarah Arvio to read from her latest poetry collection, "Cry Back My Sea" ("a performance in the language of heartbreak and longing" - Shining Rock Poetry Anthology) and from "Poet in Spain," her "inspired" (Colm Tóibín, NY Review of Books) translations of the poems of Federico García Lorca. Sarah Arvio's profound and nimble poems have been published in multiple editions of "Best American Poetry," "Best American Erotic Poetry," The New Yorker, Boston Review, and in four collections from Knopf/Random House. She has won the Rome Prize and the Guggenheim and National Foundation for the Arts Fellowships and has taught poetry at Princeton University, Columbia University, and the School for the Arts. For many years, she was a translator for the United Nations in New York and Switzerland. The event is free and open to the public. The author will read her own poetry and her Lorca translations and will be interviewed by Poetry Curator Helen O'Connor.
