Author Debbie Millman: "Love Letter to a Garden"
Although she always longed for a garden, for most of her life Debbie Millman was a houseplant-killer. This poetic and profound book, illustrated with luminous watercolor drawings, describes how she came to fall in love with gardening and to create the lush garden she now shares with her wife, the essayist, author, and NY Times opinion writer Roxane Gay. Sprinkled throughout the book are Roxane's recipes inspired by the bounty of their garden.
Debbie Millman is "one of the most influential designers working today." (Graphic Design USA). During her twenty years as president of the renowned brand-consulting company Sterling Brands, she began her long-running podcast "Design Matters," on which she has interviewed more than 500 of the most creative people in the world (including the Bookshop's own Barbara de Wilde). She is the author of seven books, as well as articles in dozens of publications including the NY Times, Washington Post, and New York Magazine. Her artwork has been displayed worldwide, including at the Boston Biennale, the Chicago Design Museum, and the School of Visual Arts (where she co-founded the world's first graduate program in branding).
