Author Anna Rasche celebrates her debut novel, “The Stone Witch of Florence.”

The Bookshop welcomes Anna Rasche, author, historian, and gemologist, to celebrate the release of her debut novel, "The Stone Witch of Florence." Anna will be in conversation with Madison Rose Whitman of Frenchtown's new jewelry store, Madison Rose Finery. "The Stone Witch of Florence" takes place in Plague-ravaged 14th-Century Italy. Ginevra di Gasparo, an expert in gemstones, returns to Florence to use precious stones to heal the sick. But, she is drawn into a dangerous plot to steal the city's priceless relics -- a plot that can be foiled only with the use of precious jewels. For this novel, Anna Rasche drew from her research on the use of gemstones in medieval medicine, which she conducted as a curatorial fellow at the Cooper Hewitt Museum and in Italy. She has also worked in the Metropolitan Museum of Art's jewelry collection. Free and all are welcome. An Italian apertivo spread of wine and cheese will be included, courtesy of the author.
