Artist of the Month Exhibition: Wren Walraven at The 8th House

The 8th House presents Wren Walraven as its Artist of the Month for January 2026. Walraven is a New Mexico–based artist whose mixed-media work explores the relationships between humans, animals, and the natural world through careful observation and layered visual language. Drawing from years of direct experience working with wildlife and landscapes, Walraven’s paintings reflect themes of fragility, memory, and attention. Her process often builds slowly, with layers of paint and texture that echo the passage of time and the accumulation of lived moments. Animals, birds, and natural forms appear not as symbols, but as presences—inviting viewers into a quieter, more attentive way of seeing. Rather than offering spectacle, Walraven’s work encourages reflection. The paintings ask viewers to slow down, to consider their own relationship to place and to the living world, and to sit with the subtle emotional resonance that emerges through close looking. The exhibition will be on view weekends only throughout January 2026 at The 8th House, an Albuquerque gallery specializing in antiques, vintage objects, and fine art.
