7th Annual Short Short Story Writing Contest supporting literacy nonprofit


The challenge: write a 100 word story on one of these topics: chickens, detours, purple, and something lost. The contest raises funds to support free tutoring services for teens and adults. Submission Dates: December 15, 2025, to March 1, 2026 Prizes: 6 prizes including Best Youth Story for writers aged 14 to 17. The winning and honorable mention stories will be published in an e-magazine. Age Limits: 14+ Submission Fee: $15.00 Since 2009, Ethos Literacy has provided free tutoring services to adults and teens (16+ who have left school) who face economic and educational barriers stemming from low literacy levels, limited English proficiency, or interrupted schooling. We focus on Adult Foundational Education providing participants with opportunities to improve literacy and numeracy skills, learn English, prepare to take a high school equivalency exam, or gain workplace skills.
