Pulido’s ensemble will bring the sounds of Latin America to the Capital region, offering audiences a fusion of Afro-Colombian, Mexican, and Venezuelan folk songs. Pulido has a unique and experimental sound which promises audiences an incomparable experience! She is known for her vocal sophistication which she uses in her exploration of Latin music and the music of Colombia such as: cumbia and bullerengue from the Atlantic Coast, currulaos from the Pacific Cost, and joropos from the Eastern Plains of Colombia, as well as the folk traditions like herding songs (cantos de vaqueria), funeral laments (alabaos) and harvest chants (cantos de zafra). With her quartet - guitarist Sebastian Cruz, bassist Stomu Takeishi, drummer Michael W. Davis - Pulido will perform her original compositions and works by Cruz and Ivan Benavides. The concert will be held on Saturday May 10th at 7pm, at The Sanctuary for Independent Media, located at 3361 6th Avenue in Troy. Tickets are $30; $20 students/low income.
