William Lauricella is excited to come back to the Schenectady Public Library and perform a free piano concert on Saturday 1/4/25 at 1 pm. The program will be 75 minutes and will include classical piano works by Bach, Chopin and Haydn.
William Lauricella is an 18 year old pianist, percussionist and composer. He began private piano lessons at age 5 and percussion lessons at 9. William currently is majoring in piano performance at The Juilliard School and is a piano student of Julian Martin.
William attended Pre-college programs as a pianist and percussionist during high school at both The Manhattan School of Music and The Juilliard School. William was admitted to the Bowdoin Music Festival in 2024 and attended the Brevard Music Festival in 2023. He attended the Luzerne Music Festival for 3 summers as both a pianist and percussionist. He was a member of the Empire State Youth Orchestra’s Symphony orchestra and the ESYO Youth Percussion Ensemble. He was a percussion student of Richard Albagli from age 12-18. He performed with the Schenectady-Saratoga Symphony Orchestra and the Albany Symphony Orchestra. He participated in his High School’s wind ensemble band, orchestra, jazz band and percussion ensemble.
William won first place prizes in various competitions including the 2023 & 2020 ESYO Lois Lyman Concerto Competition, the 2022 Manhattan School of Music Precollege Philharmonic Piano Concerto Competition, the 2022 CDCYM Chopin Competition - Master level category, the 2022 & 2021 Luzerne Music Center International Senior Concerto Competition, the 2019 Junior Luzerne Music Center International Concerto Competition, as well as the 2018 Schenectady Symphony Louise DeFeo Parillo Concerto Competition and the 2018 Tchaikovsky Music Competition at the New Russia Cultural Center. William placed second in the 2022 Uel Wade Scholarship competition, the 2019 Leschetizky International Concerto Competition and the 2019 CDCYM Chopin Competition - Intermediate level category. William was featured on PBS as the WMHT Classical Student of the month in 2019. He was a finalist and prize winner in the 2023 Solo Piano Competition at Brevard Music Center.
