As humanity has become more urban, finding truly dark skies has gotten harder, making it difficult for astronomers to see faint night sky objects, and for wildlife to take cues from the stars. Dr. Mindy Townsend, Dudley Astronomer at Siena College, discusses the unintended consequences of lighting up the world.
Dr. Mindy Townsend earned degrees in Political Science, Physics, and Law, and a Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Kansas, where her dissertation focused on how very massive galaxies grow. She has over 5 years experience conducting outreach and communicating science with K-12 students and the public.
Light refreshments will be available at the in-person event starting at 12:30 PM. Please bring your own beverage.
