A Compelling Story of Faith and Humanity
Set in post-war Ukraine in 1947, "Letter to God" tells the story of Yankel Lemares, who has lost his wife and children during the Holocaust. In his solitude and grief, Yankel begins writing heartfelt letters to God, simply asking for a modest 50-ruble gift to celebrate Passover. When his letter mistakenly lands on the desk of the local police chief, an extraordinary sequence of events unfolds—revealing how compassion can emerge in unexpected places and how faith can sustain us through our darkest moments.
