HVCC Teaching Gallery presents "How We Get Here," a student exhibition, through March 1

Members of the Student Art League, Graphic Design Club and Darkroom Club at Hudson Valley Community College are working together to present “How We Get Here,” an exhibition featuring work in all media that opens Thursday, Feb. 6 in The Teaching Gallery on the Troy campus. An opening reception will be 4 to 6 p.m. in the gallery on the ground floor of the Administration building. For “How We Get Here,” club members were invited to explore and document their daily commute to HVCC, capturing the experiences, emotions and routines that define travel to and from school, according to Professor Tara Fracalossi, director of The Teaching Gallery. The Student Art League and Darkroom Club members will exhibit personal works ranging from poetry to video, drawing, painting, photography and other media, while Graphic Design Club members have undertaken a reinterpretation of the ground-breaking and popular Volkswagen Beetle ad campaign of the 1960s. The students’ ads aim to retain the wit and simplicity that made the original ads memorable. “How We Get Here” will remain on view through Saturday, March 1. Gallery hours, open free to the public, are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday, Thursday and Friday, 1-7 p.m. Wednesday and noon-4 p.m. Saturday. Please visit www.hvcc.edu/teachinggallery for more information.
