Performance of Handel's Alexanders Feast
Join us for an exciting performance of one of Handel's most dramatic works. Alexander's Feast is set at the banquet of Alexander the Great, where the power of music provided by famous musician Timothius puts the king through range of emotions .
Work is based on John Dryden's ode and is set for soloists, chorus, and orchestra. It is technically an ode rather than a true oratorio — Handel called it "a musical drama". The work was an instant success, after it premiered at Covent Garden, and was so popular it had to be repeated just days later by popular demand.
Saratoga Voices will be joined by soloists and a full orchestra for the performance.
